Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA)
In compliance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974, North Lake College may release information classified as "directory information" to the general public without the written consent of the student.
Directory information includes:
- Student name
- Student address
- Telephone number
- Dates of attendance
- Educational institution most recently attended
- Other information
- Email address
- Degree or certificate
- Date of birth
- Awards received
- Enrollment status (Full or Part-Time)
- Weight and height (of athletic teams)
A student may request that all or any part of the directory information be withheld from the public by giving written notice to the Registrar's office during the first twelve class days of a spring or fall semester or the first four days of a summer semester. If no request is filed, information is released upon inquiry. No telephone inquiries are acknowledged; all requests must be made in writing. No transcript of academic or disciplinary record is released without the written consent of the student stating the information to be given (except as specified by law).
