  • Pre-Professional Accelerated Science Program
    The accelerated program consists of sequential eight week sessions in Biology, Chemistry and Physics in the fall and spring semesters. The accelerated course option is offered in addition to the traditional sixteen-week format. The curriculum in accelerated courses is identical to that in the sixteen-
    week format.

    Pre-Professional Health Career Programs
    North Lake College can give you a head start with pre-professional programs in fields like pharmacy and physical therapy.

    Science Olympiad
    The Science Olympiad is a nonprofit organization developed to improve the overall quality of science education, increase student interest in science, and provide both student and teacher recognition for outstanding achievement in science education. Texas students in grades 6-12 participate in interscholastic competitions at the local, regional, state and national levels against teams from across the United States.
    • STEM Institute Scholars
      The DCCCD STEM Institute engages science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) students from North Lake and the district's other colleges. STEM scholars enjoy access to special seminars with world-renowned scientists, work with mentors and selected faculty fellows, and receive a scholarship award.
    • Hawaiian Field Studies
      The Hawaiian Islands are a paradise rich with sandy beaches, brilliant sunsets and some of the best recreational and relaxation spots on earth. Beyond the tourist attractions, though, Hawaii is a natural wonder of botanical rarities, explosive geological features and themes of evolution, adaptation, conservation and extinction. Join us in the Hawaiian islands with the opportunity to study in this unique environment and earn college credit!
    • Our winter program includes classes on biology and botany, while the summer program adds to those fields additional classes in earth science, digital photography, and fitness.

    • Gulf Coast Field Studies
      Join our biology department for a weeklong trip to the Texas coast, to learn about ecosystems on land and at sea. These courses take place in the spring.
