Workforce Development

The Workforce Development Center is an integration of customized training solutions, career exploration, and continuing education services focused on providing an overall experience that meets the personal, educational and workforce needs of the community. We are committed to delivering quality education and professional training solutions that meet the growing demands of today's workforce. Our aim is to become your provider of choice.


Located in the lower level of the library on the Central Campus in Irving, the North Lake College Workforce Development Center is a 10,000-square-foot state-of-the-art facility that houses offices and registration services for Continuing Education. It provides dedicated space for workforce training and continuing education programs.

LEED Certified
The Workforce Development Center opened in February 2009 and features six high-tech classrooms, two computer labs, wireless high-speed Internet and a multi-purpose room that seats 50 or more people.

Grant Opportunities for Businesses

In partnership with the Texas Workforce Commission, free training through North Lake College is available to businesses and trade unions in Irving, Coppell, and the Dallas-Fort Worth area, to help companies build capacity for a more highly trained workforce, increase the skillset of incumbent workers and overall strengthen the Texas economy.   • Skills Development Fund
    The Skills Development Fund is Texas’ premier job-training program providing local customized training opportunities for Texas businesses and workers to increase skill levels and wages of the Texas workforce.

  • Skills for Small Business
    (Support for businesses with fewer than 100 employees)

    This exceptional opportunity supports businesses with fewer than 100 employees, and emphasizes training for new workers though it also may help upgrade the skills of current workers. Small businesses can apply to TWC for training offered by North Lake. TWC processes the applications and works with the college to fund the specific courses selected by businesses for their employees.

North Lake College's Business & Training Services can pull together the team you need to get the results you want. We provide customized employee training programs, needs assessment consultation and services, job skills training and professional development courses to local small businesses, private and public corporations, individuals, governments and community organizations.
